There Is More to Protect Than Your Bags
Shoes, straps, canvas. The pieces that take the most and are protected the least.
Your handbags are protected. Every new piece takes its coats before its first outing, and rain has stopped being something you plan around. But look down.
The shoes you are wearing face more than your bags ever will. Pavements, puddles, other people's coffee. And beside them: the watch strap that lives on your wrist through every season, the canvas tote that carries the everyday, the espadrilles that see every summer pavement. All of them are exposed. Most of them are forgotten.
Water and Stain Guard was made for leather handbags. It has never been only for leather handbags.
The shoes that started this
Recently I decided to give my espadrilles some love. Beige leather with black toes, and a scuff on one of them where I had caught something, or someone had brushed past. I was disappointed at first, and then I remembered our black Leather Restorer Pens. The scuff went first, blended until the damage disappeared. Beautiful work, and completely unprotected.
Espadrilles are summer shoes, and summer shoes meet summer showers, sticky floors and the occasional stray heel from a passer-by. Leaving that restoration bare was never an option.
Give Leather Restorer Pens at least 6 hours to dry before anything goes over them. Then spray Water and Stain Guard onto a mini mitt and dab it gently over the restored area, never wipe. Dabbing seals the work without disturbing it. Once that first application has settled, the rest of the shoe takes its coats in the usual way: onto the mitt for leather, misted directly for fabric and canvas uppers.
Protected that way, the whole pair - leather, restoration and all - is guarded against water marks, stains and the everyday marks of a summer on foot. A light mist of Deodorising Spray inside finished the job, the step that is always skipped on summer shoes worn barefoot.
What else is waiting
Once you start seeing what can be protected, it is hard to stop.
- Shoe collections. Leather trainers, ballet flats, loafers, heels. Shoes take the punishment your bags are spared, and a protected pair shrugs off the splashes and marks that age unprotected leather in a single season.
- Watch straps. A leather strap lives against skin all day, through rain, hand washing and summer heat. A light application helps keep moisture and marks from settling into the grain, so a strap that would dull within a year keeps its depth.
- Fabrics and canvas. This is the one that surprises people. Water and Stain Guard suits leather, suede, canvas and fabrics, from canvas totes to fabric trainers and espadrille uppers. Fabric takes in a spill faster than leather ever will, which makes protection matter more, not less.
- Mixed-material pieces. Canvas with leather trim. Espadrilles with jute soles and leather uppers. One product across both surfaces, with no guesswork about what is safe where.

Leather takes the mitt, and suede and fabric take the spray. Never spray Water and Stain Guard directly onto smooth leather: onto the mitt first, then smoothed over. For suede, canvas and fabric, mist evenly from around 20cm. Whatever the surface, test on a small, hidden area first and let each coat dry completely.
Protection is a habit, not a product.Katelyn Freeman, Founder
The collectors whose pieces stay beautiful longest are not the ones who restore the most. They are the ones who protect early: before the first wear, before the first storm, before the first time they wish they had.
Your bags already have that habit. Your shoes, your straps and your fabrics are simply waiting for it.
